HIGH SCHOOLS: East Lincoln off to 6-0 start in boys soccer

East Lincoln High is off to a 6-0 start in boys’ soccer and goes for a seventh victory on Tuesday at home against Central Cabarrus.

The Mustangs stayed unbeaten in their last match on Thursday at Central Cabarrus, winning 3-1.

Chase Gilley, Logan Gilley and Miller Towson each scored a goal for East Lincoln.

The match was called after about 70 minutes due to a storm.

Bandys 4, Alexander Central 4

The Trojans and Cougars tied in Taylorsville.

Jake Bulen and Ben Joseph each scored twice for Bandys (0-3-1), which next plays a non-league match at Draughn on Tuesday 6 p.m.

Alexander Central (2-1-2) is at North Lincoln on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for a non-conference match.

JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL

Alexander Central 36, North Iredell 6

Daniel Morgan ran 10 times for 218 yards and three touchdowns at the Cougars (3-0) won on the road.

Alexander threw only twice and did not complete any en route to 383 yards on offense.

North Iredell gained only 105 yards.

Morgan’s scoring runs were for 59, 45 and 25 yards and the first two came in the opening half when Alexander Central built a 16-0 lead.

Ethan Robinette led the Cougars’ defense with five tackles and Josh Stubbs had four.

Alexander Central meets North Lincoln in Taylorsville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

Lake Norman Charter 3, North Lincoln 0

Lake Norman Charter won a South Fork 2A match on Thursday 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 at North Lincoln.

Makayla Martin led Lake Norman Charter with six kills, an ace, one block, three digs and two assists.

Liberty Harris added 14 kills, Hope Curtis had 28 digs and served on 15 points while Abby Hunt provide an ace, 10 digs and 14 assists for Lake Norman Charter.

Lake Norman Charter (5-1, 1-1) is at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a league match against Maiden.

Maiden 3, West Lincoln 0

The Blue Devils won 25-11, 25-6, 25-18 on Thursday at home, improving to 2-0 in the South Fork 2A.

Abbey Smith had nine kills and eight digs and Sarah Wicker had 10 kills and three blocks for Maiden.

Abby Driscoll provided a block and six kills, Faith Herman had 34 assists and nine digs and Lauren Xayavong contributed seven digs and two aces for the Blue Devils.

Maiden plays a league match at Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
