HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Knights nip Bandys; N-C shuts out Maiden in soccer

Lake Norman Charter High is in third place in South Fork 2A boys’ soccer after edging Bandys 3-1 at home on Wednesday night.

Riley Benz, Elijah Corbin and Connor Hahn each scored a goal for the Knights, who are 5-2-0 in the league and trailing Newton-Conover and East Lincoln in the conference race.

Garrett Rhodes scored on an assist by Ben Joseph for the Trojans, who fell to 1-6-0 in the league.

Adam Kennedy made three saves for Lake Norman Charter.

The Knights play at West Lincoln in a league match on Monday night, while the Trojans will be at home against North Lincoln.

Newton-Conover 5, Maiden 0

The Red Devils shut out the Blue Devils on the road to stay atop the South Fork 2A standings at 6-0-0, half-game up on East Lincoln.

Maiden dropped to 4-3-0 in the conference and is in fourth place.

No other match details were available.

On Monday, East Lincoln visits Newton-Conover in a battle for the lead and Maiden travels to Lincolnton for a conference match.

Lincolnton 4, North Lincoln 0

The Wolves kept the Knights winless (0-7-0) in the South Fork 2A behind two goals by Brian Sedano and one by MastonWhitaker in a match at North Lincoln.

Lincolnton improved to 2-4-0 in the league and plays Maiden at home on Monday night in a conference match.

North Lincoln travels to Bandys on Monday for a league match.

VOLLEYBALL

East Burke 3, Patton 0

The Cavs won a Northwestern Foothills 2A match on the road 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 behind Pressley Kiser, Erica Clontz and Anna Suddreth.

Kiser had 11 kills and six aces, Clontz had nine kills and six aces and Suddreth contributed 16 assists for East Burke, 4-5 in the league.

Patton has lost all 10 of its league matches.

The Cavs have a home league match Monday against Bunker Hill while the Panthers go to league-leading West Iredell on Monday night.
