In the previous 18 high school football seasons, only one player led Catawba County in receiving yards twice – Seth Cranfill of Bandys in 2008 and 2009.
The county leaders over that period were from Bandys in seven seasons, Maiden in six seasons, Newton-Conover in two seasons and from Fred T. Foard, Hickory and St. Stephens in one season each.
The top receiver played for Bandys or Maiden every year from 2000 through 2010, starting with current Maiden head coach Will Byrne leading in 2000.
The top single-season marks in those 18 seasons is Alex Johnson of Newton-Conover in catches (81 in 2015), Petey McClain of Maiden in yardage (1,449 in 2005) and Justin Harper of Bandys in touchdowns receptions (18 in 2002).
