Dula — who came in unofficially needing 290 rushing yards to reach 1,000 — gained 300 as the Warriors improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.

He scored on runs of 5, 64 and 81 yards and had all but 14 of West Caldwell’s rushing yardage as.

The Indians (2-5, 1-4) had won three straight games in the series and three in a row at West Caldwell coming in.

West Caldwell led 19-14 at the half and opened the lead to 26-14 late in the third quarter on Daye’s 64-yard TD run.

When Daye broke a run for an 81-yard TD early in the fourth quarter, the Warriors’ lead grew to 33-14.

Carrying for more than 30 times for the first time this season, Xavian King gained 142 yards for St. Stephens.

West Caldwell quarterback Kaleb Dula threw for 110 yards, hitting Elijah Brooks three times for 104 yards and the game’s opening score on a 60-yard throw in the opening 30 seconds.

Jamar Brown scored two rushing TDs for the Indians, who were just shy of having 300 yards in total offense. His 4-yard run early in the second quarter gave St. Stephens a 14-6 lead.

West Caldwell is in a three-way tie for second place in the Northwestern 3A-4A with Freedom and Watauga, all of them trailing unbeaten Alexander Central.

The Warriors travel to Hickory next Friday for a league game at 7:30 p.m., and the Indians will be at home, also at 7:30 p.m., to face Watauga in a conference game.
