HUDSON — South Caldwell High picked up a forfeit varsity football win for last season on Wednesday that adjusts the Spartans’ record to 8-2.
When Chambers became the third Charlotte-Mecklenburg school to indicate it must forfeit games from last season — Myers Park and West Charlotte have also since the season ended — and South Caldwell gained a first-round state 4A playoff victory.
Chambers won 73-20 but that score was changed to 1-0 by the forfeit. All of the forfeits involving the trio of Charlotte schools involved eligibility issues for some players on the teams.
Former South Caldwell quarterback Casey Justice was in his first season as head coach at his alma mater last season, and the eighth win ups by one the number of times South Caldwell has won at least eight times in a varsity football season (10).
