VALE – With two running backs combining for more than 300 rushing yards and four scores, West Lincoln High downed Lake Norman Charter 46-26 on Friday night, giving the Rebels at successful Senior Night.

Nakathon Phanshook ran 24 times for 175 yards and Brendon Ikard added 16 carries and 150 yards as the Rebels (4-7, 2-5) closed their first season in the South Fork 2A in sixth place, The Lincoln Times News reported.

Lake Norman Charter (3-8, 0-7) finished eighth in the eight-team league.

The game was tight early, tied at 7 after Ikard’s 85-yard TD run for West Lincoln and a 2-yard scoring run by Tyler Stankiewicz for the Knights.

Lake Norman Charter was leading after a short-yardage TD run by Owen Thomas, but an 87-yard scoring run on a reverse by Xander Pendergrass got the Rebels back in front.

In the second half, West Lincoln blew the game open with third-quarter rushing TDs by Phansook and Ikard. Phansook and Tyler Cunningham added rushing scores after that for the Rebels.

Lake Norman Charter quarterback Jackson Newton threw for 208 yards and hit Davis Wilder for a score.
