The Cavs won 21-12 as Fulbright, a quarterback, ran for a TD and kicked a field goal as the Cavs (2-9, 1-5) ended up sharing fifth place in the Northwestern Foothills 2A with Draughn (2-9, 1-5) and Bunker Hill.

He helped set up scoring runs by Josh Moore, one in the opening quarter and the other in the final quarter, and ran 1-yard for a TD that helped East Burke lead 15-6 at halftime in the rain. Moore led the Cavs with more than 80 rushing yards.

Christian Campbell, a senior, had a hand in both Draughn TDs. He threw a scoring pass to Colton Singleton and ran 10 yards for the other TD and had almost 170 yards of total offense.

Neither Burke County team anticipates reaching postseason play.

East Burke — fielding its seventh varsity football team in school history that won two or fewer games — misses the state playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons.

Draughn goes 2-9 in back-to-back seasons and is 31-71 after nine seasons of varsity football with two previous postseason bids (2011, 2012).
