The Panthers (6-2, 3-0) scored on their first seven drives to win a league game that left them atop the conference standings and holding a half-game lead over Hibriten and West Iredell.

Traveon Lytle ran for three touchdowns on Homecoming Night at Patton, Matt Byrd scored twice and Jamir Epps provided two rushing scores in its ninth all-time battle with the Cavs (1-6, 0-2).

Lytle finished with more than 130 rushing yards to lead Patton, which collected career wins No. 145 for head coach Tom Eanes. Nineteen of those wins are in his four seasons at Patton.

East Burke’s senior quarterback, Grant Fulbright, just missed a 100-yard rushing game and he threw for about 60 yards in the loss.

Patton, averaging just shy of 36 points per game, has a big league game next Friday when it travels to play West Iredell (4-3, 2-0), which was idle on Friday night.

East Burke, outscored 292-66 this season, will try to bounce back next Friday when it plays at home against winless Bunker Hill.
