GASTONIA – Josh Aruta had two early scores and an interception return for a TD helped visiting Lake Norman Charter beat Highland Tech 36-7 on Friday night.

The Knights (3-1) led 28-7 by halftime and won by forcing three turnovers that led to points.

Aruta’s early scoring runs staked Lake Norman Charter to a 14-0 lead.

Highland Tech (2-2) pulled within 14-7 on a 65-yard TD pass from Wiley Martin to Caleb Hill.

The Knights have a bye this week and will begin preparing to meet East Lincoln on the road on Sept. 22 to begin their South Fork 2A schedule.

Lake Norman Charter has won three straight since a season-opening 26-8 loss to Southlake Christian.
