HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: East Surry schedules Premier Football Academy for June 22

PILOT MOUNTAIN – The 2019 Premier Football Academy, coordinated by East Surry High head football coach Trent Lowman, is scheduled June 22 at the school.

The event for rising freshmen through seniors will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon at East Surry with a focus on learning basic fundamentals with specific instruction from experienced offensive line and quarterback and wide receivers coaches.

The list of coaches providing instruction will include:

  • Offensive linemen: Steve Whitt, OL coach at East Surry; J.K. Adkins, Mount Airy head coach; Monty Southern, head coach at Surry Central; and Tom Harper, an assistant at North Iredell whose head-coaching stints include at East Burke, Alexander Central, Hickory and Fred T. Foard. Harper was a college offensive lineman.
  • Quarterbacks and wide receivers: Will Bryne, head coach at Maiden and a Shrine Bowl receiver while playing at his alma mater; Drew Piscapo, offensive coordinator at Ashe County; Patrick Taylor, offensive coordinator at North Surry; Trent Lowman, a Shrine Bowl quarterback in his playing career at Bandys; and Kyle Lowman, Trent’s brother who was offensive coordinator at Bandys for 16 years and continues to coach there.

Cost is $25 per camper and a registration form that includes a signature waiver by a parent(s) needs to be completed. The cost is $20 per camper if 10 or more players from the same team/school attend.

All checks should be made payable to East Surry High Athletic Boosters, 801 West Main Street, Pilot Mountain 27041 and should be sent to Trent Lowman’s attention.

Same day registration begins at 8 a.m. but to insure receiving a camp t-shirt, registration should be completed by June 14.
