The Bears (1-9, 1-4), coming off a victory at East Burke, had an early 7-0 lead.

Davis ran 21 yards and added a two-point conversion to put West Iredell ahead 8-7 but the Bears answered with a 47-yard scoring run by Raheem Carson to lead 14-8.

West Iredell won its fourth straight visit to Claremont in the schools’ 20th meeting since 1981. Bunker Hill leads the series 11-9.

The Warriors are in third place, one game back to Patton and Hibriten, in the conference race with two league games to go.

Without a win in Morganton, the Bears will have two or fewer wins for the 15th time in school history, and they’ll finish with one or fewer wins for the eighth time (the others were in 1986, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2016).
