CHAPEL HILL – Charlotte Catholic High won a state football title for the sixth time in school history on Saturday, edging Jacksonville 17-14 at North Carolina’s Kenan Stadium for the 3A championship.

Catholic, the West No. 3 seed, finished 15-1 by beating the Cardinals, the No. 6 East seed.

Jacksonville finished 11-2.
