Notes: Watauga outscored Alexander Central 44-12 in the paint, 38-8 off turnovers and 28-0 on fastbreaks … The Pioneers held the Cougars to 24.3 percent shooting … Lanie Hammer had two blocks and three steals and Gracie Harrington had seven steals for Alexander Central … Rebeka Farthing had six assists and Sturgill had six rebounds for Watauga … Byrd hit 11 of 15 field goal attempts and Sturgill was 4-for-4 at the free throw line, where Watauga went eight of 16… Watauga led 36-11 at the half … The Pioneers have won three straight games and six of their last seven.
