HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College’s baseball program has signed a .300 hitter from St. Stephens High who plays two positions.

Cole Chapman, who plays second base and catches for the Indians, recently signed a national letter of intent and will be a catcher for the Red Hawks, a press release from St. Stephens head coach Adam Windham said.

“Cole is one of the most dedicated and hardworking players we have had in our baseball program during the last five years,” Windham said in the press release. “He has the highest batting average returning from last year and will serve as a great leader to our younger players.

“As a program we wish to congratulate Cole on signing with one of the top junior college programs in the country.”

Chapman started 22 games for St. Stephens as a junior, hitting .301. He had an on-base percentage of .329 and split time as second base and as a catcher for the Indians.
