HICKORY — The Hickory Public Schools Board of Education has appointed Dr. Bryan W. Taylor as the school system’s new superintendent.

He replaces Dr. Robbie Addell, who is retiring.

HobbsDailyReport.com will update this story once documentation of hiring actions by the board of education on Tuesday night are provided.

A request for a list of all hiring actions taken by the board has been submitted and the HPS, through its attorney, has indicated that list will be provided within 48 hours after Tuesday’s meeting.

State statues regarding public disclosure of such actions by school boards allow an entity “reasonable” time to provide that information (and anyone, not just media, can request such information).

In recent days, information about hires in the Burke County and Catawba County school systems has been made available within 30 minutes to a few hours after those boards came back into public sessions, where hiring decisions immediately become a matter of public record.
