DEAL

Hayden Deal had a good Friday night, delivering another quality start for the Double-A Mississippi Braves.

Deal, a former Bandys High star, pitched six innings against Tennessee but did not gain a decision in a game won 4-3 by Mississippi before 2,898.

He allowed four hits, one run (earned), walked one, hit one batter and struck out three in his ninth start of the season.

Deal threw strikes on 50 of his 81 pitches and faced 23 batters.

He is 1-2 with an ERA of 3.02 this season, striking out 37 in 41 21/3 innings, and he has 18 career pro wins.

Deal was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves after a tryout at the Bandys stadium. A Braves scout offered Deal a contract before Deal left Bandys that day.

When Deal will make his 10th start of the season will depend on the number of starters the Braves decide to use in their rotation.
