Hibriten’s Blanton will guide West boys’ soccer in July

GREENSBORO – Next year’s East-West All-Star coaching staffs will include a trio of veterans from the area’s three new conferences.
MANGUM
The games, sponsored by the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) announced Tuesday:
— Brad Mangum of North Lincoln, who had to withdraw as West girls’ basketball head coach for this year’s game due to a family emergency, will be the West head coach in July.
— Hibriten’s Jim Blanton will be the West boys’ soccer head coach. Shea Bridges, his coaching colleague at Hibriten, was this year’s West girls’ head coach.
— The West football staff, with Darryl Brown of Greensboro Grimsley as head coach, will include Statesville’s Randal Gusler and Brian Hampton of Ashe County as assistants.
The other West head coaches are: Josh Martin of Asheville Roberson (girls’ soccer) and Andrew Muse of Mount Tabor (boys’ basketball).
Barbara Nelson of Myers Park will be the girls’ head basketball coach for the North Carolina-South Carolina All-Star game while Brad LeVine of Crest is head coach for the boys’ game.
