HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Bowie won 7-1 at Portland (Ore.) on Tuesday night but former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch in a game attended by 3,025.

Harvey last appeared last Friday, making his ninth start of the season. He went two innings, gave up five hits and six runs (all earned), walked one and struck out none with Trenton (N.J.) winning 7-2.

Harvey faced 12 batters and threw strikes on 36 of his 59 pitches but gave up a double, triple and two home runs.

He is 1-2 this season with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.

Harvey has been pitching every fifth game for the Baysox. If he does that this week, his next start would likely come on Saturday (6:05 p.m.) or Sunday (1:35 p.m.) at New Hampshire.

If a Sunday rainout factors in – and/or Harvey were to pitch based on numbers of days of rest before throwing again — he could start in a series at Portland (Ore.) that is Tuesday through Thursday.

Harvey is not listed as Bowie’s probable starter for Wednesday’s game at Portland and the Baysox starter for Thursday night is listed as TBA.

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal is a left-handed relief pitcher for the Braves (34-23), who fell 11-6 on the road to Asheville on Tuesday night before 2,002.

Deal did not pitch on Tuesday night.

He last pitched on Friday night when the Braves beat Columbia (S.C.) 7-1 in Rome. He came on in relief of Mike Soroka — with Rome on a rehab assignment from the Atlanta Braves – in the fourth inning with two outs and threw three innings to earn a victory.

He gave up two hits, no runs, walked two and struck out three before a crowd of 2,092.

Deal threw exactly half of his 62 pitches for strikes and faced 15 batters.

He is 4-0 this season with an ERA of 1.85, pitching 24 1/3 innings, giving up 18 hits, six runs (five earned), walking seven, hitting two batters and striking out 35.

Deal’s wins have all come in his last 10 games, when his ERA is 1.27 and he’s walked six and struck out 32 over his last 21 1/3 innings.

He’s now pitched 55 innings in pro baseball and struck out 62.
