AIKEN, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University has a win under its belt heading into its men’s soccer home opener on Sunday.
On Friday, the Bears opened the season with a 3-0 road victory over USC Aiken. They face Lander in Hickory at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
In its season opener, the Bears got goals from three players, two of them unassisted, to win.
In the first half, Victor Cascon scored at the 35:20 mark on a free kick from 25 yards that bounced around for a 10-yard shot.
At the 53:58 mark, Ignacio De Goya went up the left side and had a shot across to the right from 10 yards that put LRU up 2-0.
The final Bears goal, at the 64:15 mark, was scored by Kevin Nadeau on an assist by Ismael Noumansana. Nadeau took a pass up the right side and hit a 10-yard shot from the left.
LRU outshot USC Aiken 10-3.
Zach King had one save in goal for the Bears while Chase Boulton made two for USC Aiken.
