COLLEGE BASEBALL: Former Shelby star resigns as South Carolina head coach

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former Shelby High three-sport star Chad Holbrook resigned his position on Wednesday after five seasons as head baseball coach at South Carolina.

Holbrook’s college baseball coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant coach on national championship teams at South Carolina under head coach Ray Tanner, and Holbrook was previously an assistant coach at North Carolina for 15 years.

He played for the Tar Heels from 1990-93, hitting .353 as a senior.

Holbrook is the son of Eddie Holbrook, former head men’s basketball coach at Gardner-Webb and Furman.
