HICKORY — Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) sophomore Hailey Tatu signed Thursday to play volleyball at Greensboro College.
“I’m super excited,” Tatu said of signing. “Coming into CVCC, I really didn’t have a plan.
“Coming out of high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t know if I was even going to get to play (volleyball), so coming here (to CVCC) really helped me kind of figure out not only what I wanted to do, but who I was.
“Just getting that opportunity to continue playing and finish my degree is amazing. I’m blessed, and I’m excited to keep going.”
Tatu, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Mooresville who played at Lake Norman High
, finished her sophomore season with 36 kills, nine aces, 62 digs and 14 blocks, helping the Red Hawks finish 28-9 and with a sixth straight Region X regular-season championship.
She also played on the 2016 CVCC team that went 41-7 and finished third nationally.
Tatu finished with 86 kills, 125 digs, 20 blocks and 124 points in her career.
