HICKORY – After winning 13 of their last 14 volleyball matches, the Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) women are ranked in the top 20 teams in the country

In the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Tachikra rankings released on Tuesday, the Red Hawks (17-7) are No. 16.

“It’s great to be back in the polls,” CVCC head coach Shannon Hudson said in a CVCC press release. “Our team is learning and growing together, and their play is definitely improving.

“I think the latest poll is an exciting acknowledgment of how their work has paid off. I am so proud of all they have accomplished so far this season, and I’m looking forward to finishing strong.”

CVCC’s next match is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cleveland (Tenn.) State Community College. The next day, the Red Hawks travel to Hanceville, Ala., to compete in the tow-day Wallace State Fall Bash.

CVCC’s opponents in Alabama will be these four Division I teams — Spartanburg Methodist, Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette, Monroe College and host Wallace State.
