MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) sophomore center Zharia Brown scored 25 points, her season high, and added six rebounds on Thursday as the Red Hawks cruised to a 96-31 basketball victory over Patrick Henry Community College.
CVCC improved to 10-4 overall and 5-2 in Region X by winning.
Sophomore Sherry Johnson added 21 points, 11 rebounds and six steals for her team-high eighth double-double of the season.
The Red Hawks’ next game is a conference battle with Wake Tech on Saturday at 3 p.m. at CVCC.
On Thursday, CVCC powered ahead of the Patriots 51-15 by halftime with Johnson and Brown leading the way with 17 and 16 first-half points, respectively.
The Red Hawks outscored Patrick Henry 45-16 in the second half en route to a third straight win.
Freshman Ivy Eller also reached double figures for CVCC with 11 points.
