HICKORY – Overcoming 27 turnovers, the Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) women ran their basketball win streak to six games on Friday, beating visiting Brunswick Community College 55-41.

Milequa Eason and Sherry Johnson paced the Red Hawks (14-3, 9-1 in Region X) with 12 points each, while Aniya Taylor added 11 points. Eason added seven rebounds and seven steals, and Johnson had 10 rebounds to post her 10th double-double of the season and third in four games.

Despite committing 12 first-half turnovers, CVCC led 31-18 at the break after Eason scored all her points in the first half.

The Red Hawks had 15 second-half turnovers but maintained a double-figure lead throughout.

Kapria Pressley paced Brunswick with a team-high 13 points.

CVCC goes for its seventh straight win on Monday when it faces Johnston Community College on the road with a 7 p.m. start.
