HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) has signed nine players for softball the 2021-2022 season, seven of them coming from Greater Hickory area leagues.

The school announced the roster for head coach Josh Bumgarner will include:

— From the Northwestern Foothills 2A, pitcher-outfielder Payton Thomas of Fred T. Foard and outfielder Kaylee Yoder of Fred T. Foard.

— From the Northwestern 3A-4A, infielder-catcher Zoey Boston of St. Stephens and infielder Jessica Cannon of McDowell.

The other signees are utility-pitcher Alyssa Kropski of Northwest Guilford and outfielder Emma Kuproski of East Gaston.

“This class has the potential to be very special for our program,” Bumgarner said. “Each class continues to get better and better, which is impressive because in our short history we have had a strong recruiting class each year.

“This one could be the best yet. It is a very exciting time to be a part of our team.”
