MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: CVCC has 6 in double figures en route to fourth consecutive victory

KINSTON – Six Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) players reached double figures on Saturday as the Red Hawks ran their win streak to four games.

CVCC beat host Lenoir Community College 105-56, improving to 14-4 overall and 6-3 in Region X basketball.

The Red Hawks play league-leading Pitt Community College on the road on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Jonathan McFall led the scoring against Lenoir Community College with 16 points. Cole Johnson added 14, Everett Palmer had 13, Isayah Johnson scored 12 and Zach De LaCruz and Brandon Reeves each provided 11 for CVCC.

Led by Johnson’s 14 first-half points, CVCC took a commanding 52-26 lead at halftime against the Lancers (6-11, 3-7).

The Red Hawks continued their pace in the second half, outscoring the Lancers 53-30 to record their third 100-point game of the season. The 53 points are the most in a half this season by CVCC.

CVCC connected on 14 3-pointers — four from Johnson and three each from De La Cruz and Palmer.
