GASTONIA – Gastonia edged visiting Hickory 2-0 on Monday night, dropping Post 48 to 1-2 in Area IV American Legion baseball.
Post 48 is at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m., facing Gastonia at the Legion Fairgrounds Field in Newton.
Gastonia won a pitching duel on Monday night behind Logen Blattau, who threw seven innings. He gave up six hits, walked one and struck out four.
Connor Stewart and Dakota London pitched for Post 48. Stewart gave up four hits, two runs, walked one and struck out four in three innings while London threw three innings (one walk, five strikeouts).
Gavin Marley led Hickory’s hitting with two and Andy Cook, Bryce Stober, William Stewart and Brody Scarborough each added one hit.
