SARASOTA, Fla. – Former Bandys High pitcher Hunter Harvey, working his way back from an injury, has pitched twice since being sent to the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Orioles on a rehab assignment.
Harvey, a right-hander taken with the No. 22 pick by Baltimore in the 2013 amateur draft, last pitched for the GCL Orioles against the GCL Twins on July 26. He threw two innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.
He previously threw an inning against the GCL Red Sox on July 19, giving up two hits and striking out one.
Harvey — who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery — has faced 11 batters in those two starts.
He’s listed on the Advanced A Fredrick (Md.) Keys roster and was assigned to the GCL Orioles on July 19.
The Baltimore Sun recently reported the O’s plan for Harvey, who turns 23 in December, to pitch in the minor leagues later this season but not in Arizona after that. They will instead have him rest and prepare to attend the major league training camp early next season.
