HICKORY – The Hickory Crawdads have home games for the next seven days in a row, starting with a three-game series and first meeting of the season with Greenville (S.C.) on Tuesday night at L.P Frans Stadium.
The Crawdads (22-35) are in last place in the South Atlantic League (SAL) Northern Division, 11 ½ games back of division-leading Hagerstown (Md.), which leads Lakewood (N.J.) by 1 ½ games in the first-half title chase in the division.
The Drive (34-22) comes to Hickory with the best record in the SAL and leading the Southern Division by 2 ½ games over Rome (Ga.).
Game 1 of the Hickory-Greenville series is Tuesday night at 6 p.m., Game 2 has a 10:30 a.m. start on Wednesday, and the series finale is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Starting Friday, the Crawdads entertain Lexington (Ky.) in a four-game series. Game time Friday is 7 p.m., Saturday’s game begins at 6 p.m., Sunday’s game has a first pitch at 3 p.m., and the series finale on Monday begins at 7 p.m.
Hickory is 10-18 at home this season and has won its last two games — on the road –as it preps to play Greenville. The Crawdads, who were idle on Monday, have won four of their last 10 games.
The Drive is 5-5 in its last two games and arrives in Hickory having lost two straight games.
The Crawdads and Lexington have already played four times this season – all in Kentucky – and Lexington won all four of those games by a combined 18-5 margin.
