Hickory Post 48’s Junior American Legion softball team swept North Iredell in a doubleheader on Wednesday night, winning 12-0 and 10-0.
Post 48 had eight hits, led by two each by Riley Fox and Torrie Venters, to win the first game. Fox and Owen Lyall combined for a shutout, allowing two hits, and Riley had five strikeouts in three innings.
In the second game, Fox had a team-high two hits while Lyall and Mayson Lail did not allow a hit or run over three innings. Lyall pitched two innings, striking out two.
Hickory’s next game is against Shelby on Monday night at 7 p.m. at Bandys High.
