SD-7 2A GIRLS SOCCER: East Lincoln trips Maiden by a goal, stays in third place

DENVER, N.C. – East Lincoln High stayed in the thick of a tight race for a Southern District 7 Athletic 2A girls’ soccer championship on Friday night, beating visiting Maiden 3-2.

The Mustangs improved to 9-2-1 and they’ll finish no worse than third place. They currently trail Lincolnton, 9-1-2 in the league, and leader Newton-Conover (10-1-1).

Elena Propst scored both goals for Maiden (6-6-0, fifth place) and Gracie Arrowood had an assist on both goals.

East Lincoln has two conference matches to go, at home Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Bandys and at home against Lincolnton on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Maiden closes the regular season with conference matches against Bunker Hill at home on Tuesday and at Newton-Conover at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
