GASTONIA — Zach Jarrett is back on the baseball field, playing outfield for the Gastonia Honey Hunters.
Jarrett, released by the Baltimore Orioles as spring training ended, has signed to play for the Honey Hunters.

Gastonia plays in the Atlantic League’s Professional Baseball South Division and plays its home games at CaroMont Health Park (Sims Field).
The Honey Hunters’ season began Thursday night with a home game against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The series continues through Sunday with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and first pitches at 6:15 p.m.
Jarrett spent four seasons in the minor leagues with Baltimore after being drafted in the 28th round of the 2017 draft. He was a college baseball star at Charlotte.
He has played in 398 pro games, including 91 last season for Triple-A Norfolk (Va.), and has 65 doubles, 10 triples, 37 home runs and 167 RBIs with a career .257 batting average.
Last season in Triple-A, he hit .221 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs, and he was in spring training with the Orioles and went 1-for-3 before being released.
