JARRETT
Zach Jarrett played in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday night, and the Norfolk (Va.) Tides split a Triple-A doubleheader at Jacksonville (Fla.).
Jarrett batted No. 8 in the Tides batting order, going 1-for-4, and Jacksonville had four pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 1-0, 10-inning victory in Game 1.
In the second game, Jarrett was not in the lineup as Norfolk won 1-0 in seven innings.
The series continues Friday in Jacksonville, and Jarrett is batting .248.
Norfolk is 31-47 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
