MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Tides fall as Jarrett goes 1-for-5, leaves 5 on base

Zach Jarrett had a hit on Saturday night but left five men on base in Memphis’ 9-5 victory over the Norfolk (Va.) Tides.

Jarrett against started in centerfield and batted second in the batting order. He is hitting .262 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs as the Tides head into a series finale on Sunday at Memphis.

After an off day on Monday, the Tides begin a six-game series on Tuesday at Gwinett (Ga.).

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

Norfolk is 24-37 and shares sixth place with Charlotte in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 17 games behind division-leading Durham.

Five of the six teams trailing Durham are at least 10 games behind.

Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.

The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
