MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Jarrett, Tides rained out in Jacksonville, Fla.

A doubleheader between Jacksonville (Fla.) and visiting Norfolk (Va.) was rained out on Wednesday.

The Tides and Hickory native Zach Jarrett will play Jacksonville twice on Thursday as the Triple-A series continues.

Jarrett is batting .248.

Norfolk is 30-46 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 1/2 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.

The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
