MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Jarrett, Tide rained out, will play DH on Sunday

Memphis and Norfolk (Va.) were rained out on Saturday night, setting up a doubleheader on Sunday that will close their Triple-A baseball series in Norfolk.

Zach Jarrett and the Tides will meet the Redbirds twice on Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. start.

After taking Monday off, Norfolk will travel to Charlotte to begin a six-game series against the Knights that begins on Tuesday night.

Games in Charlotte on Tuesday through Friday are 7:04 p.m., Saturday’s game will be at 1:05 p.m., and next Sunday’s game will be at 5:05 p.m.

Jarrett is batting .242.

The Tides are 35-51 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round after a solid college career at Charlotte. In high school, he was a multiple sports start at Hickory.
