MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Jarrett takes Saturday night off, Durham trips Tides

Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup on Saturday night when Durham tripped host Norfolk (Va.) 12-6 in Triple-A baseball.

A former Hickory High and Charlotte star, Jarrett was off for the second time in three games.

He is hitting .243 heading into Sunday’s home game that closes a six-game series with Durham.

The Tides fell to 29-46, and they are in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 22 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.

The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
