Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup on Sunday for Norfolk (Va.), which fell 7-6 in 10 innings in Durham.
Jarrett played Saturday night, when Durham won 6-1, and he went 1-for-3 while playing centerfield and batting No. 7 in the Tides’ lineup.
A former prep star at Hickory High and in college at Charlotte, Jarrett is hitting .234 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs this season.
Norfolk is off on Monday before starting a series in Norfolk against Jacksonville (Fla.).
Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch last week for the Tides. He is now in Norfolk as part of a continuing rehab assignment (eight minor league games with a 2-1 record and 8.10 ERA with 10 innings pitched and seven strikeouts).
It is not likely that the Baltimore Orioles will return Harvey to the big leagues this season.
The Tides are 45-68 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 26 games back of Durham.
Norfolk will not make the playoffs.
After this week’s series with Jacksonville, the Tides will play five games at Charlotte (starting Sept. 22) and then five games at home against Durham (starting Sept. 29).
Jarrett, in his fourth pro season, has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19.
He has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020), after being drafted by the club in 2017 in the 28th round.
