Zach Jarrett is hitting .232 for the Norfolk (Va.) Tides after going 0-for-2 on Saturday night in a 1-0 home loss to Jacksonville (Fla.).
He batted eighth and started in centerfield in front of a crowd of 6,020 one night after he was 0-for-3 in the Tides’ 7-6 home win over the Jumbo Shrimp on Friday night (4,046 fans).
The final game of a six-game Triple-A series is Sunday. After having Monday off, Norfolk remains at home to start a six-game series against Charlotte.
Jarrett is aformer Hickory High and Charlotte star in college.
The Tides are 40-59 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 23 1/2 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
