Norfolk (Va.) won a Triple-A game at home on Wednesday night, beating Memphis 7-5 although Zach Jarrett went hitless.
Jarrett moved up to No. 4 in the Tides batting order and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout as his batting averaged dipped to .246.
The third of a six game series is Thursday night in Norfolk.
Jarrett has seven home runs and 28 RBIs this season, and he is a .261 career hitter.
A crowd of 3,8976 attended Wednesday night’s game.
The Tides are 34-50 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 1/2 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
