Zach Jarrett went 1-for-5, bouncing a single up the middle, as Norfolk (Va.) defeated host Charlotte 8-2 on Saturday night in a Triple-A game.
With a crowd of 10,282 watching the fifth of a six-game series betweeen the Tides and the Knights, Jarrett started in centerfield and batted third for Norfolk.
Jarrett’s hit came in the fourth inning, when Norfolk scored three runs.
The game was televised locally.
Game 6 of the series is Sunday at 6:05 p.m. After an off day on Monday, the Tides go home to start a six-game series against Durham.
Norfolk will visit the Knights again for a six-game series on Aug. 17-22.
Jarrett, a former Hickory High and Charlotte star, is hitting .279 with six home runs and has driven in 20 runs.

Norfolk improved to 22-28 and is in fifth place in the Triple-A East Southern Division, 12 games back of division-leading Durham.
Charlotte fell to 21-30 and in sixth place, 13 1/2 games behind Durham.

Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
