Former Hickory High star starts
fourth on-field year in O’s farm system

Former Hickory High outfielder Zach Jarrett, playing for Double-A Bowie (Md.), opened the season Tuesday with a tough night at the plate.
Jarrett, who played college baseball at Charlotte and is in the Baltimore Orioles’ organization, went 0-for-4 and struck out three times.
Bowie won 2-1 at Altoona, Pal, on Tuesday by scoring one run in the eighth inning and another in the ninth.
The series continues on Wednesday night in Altoona with a 6 p.m. start.
Jarrett, the son of NASCAR champion driver Dale Jarrett, is in his fourth on-field pro season (there were no minor league games in 2020).
He last played in 2019, getting into 122 games with two teams and hitting .270 with 11 home runs and driving in 48 runs.
As a pro, he is a career .264 hitter with 51 doubles, 27 home runs and 127 RBIs.
