Zach Jarrett was back in the lineup on Thursday night for Norfolk (Va.), going hitless as visiting Jacksonville (Fla.) beat the Tides 10-3.
Jarrett, a Hickory High product, had the night off on Wednesday and came back to bat fifth in the order for Norfolk. His night on Thursday included two strike outs.
He is now hitting .228 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs.
The series continues through the weekend in Norfolk.
Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch last week for the Tides and also had not appeared in the series against Jacksonville.
Harvey is in Norfolk as part of a continuing rehab assignment (eight minor league games with a 2-1 record and 8.10 ERA with 10 innings pitched and seven strikeouts).
It is not likely that the Baltimore Orioles will return Harvey to the big leagues this season.
The Tides are 47-70 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 28 games back of Durham. They will not make the playoffs and will finish ahead of only Charlotte in the final standings.
After this week’s series with Jacksonville, the Tides will play five games at Charlotte (starting on Wednesday) and then five games at home against Durham (starting Sept. 29).
Game times in Charlotte are 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and next Friday, 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 26.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19.
He has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020), after being drafted by the club in 2017 in the 28th round.
