LENOIR – West Caldwell High has announced it will not play any varsity girls’ basketball game before Christmas due to injuries and not having enough players.

Warriors athletic director Stephen McMaster said via email the school is working on its schedule and finalizing rescheduled girls’ games and also boys’ games.

McMasters said West Caldwell does intend to play all 14 of its Northwestern Foothills 2A varsity doubleheaders and some non-league games, beginning on Dec. 27.

If the Warriors get some girls’ players back earlier than expected, McMasters said, they will start playing prior to Dec. 27.

The Northwestern Foothills 2A schedule begins on Dec. 13 with one set of games (Bunker Hill at Draughn). The first date of having four league doubleheaders is Jan. 3.

The original conference master scheduled called for Fred T. Foard to visit West Caldwell on Dec. 19, and West Caldwell’s next conference game was set for Jan. 3 at Patton.
