HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men will start conference play unbeaten.
The Bears (3-0) nipped visiting Limestone on Saturday 1-0 in double overtime to improve to 3-0, with a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) opener coming Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Catawba.
LRU is ranked N. 8 in NCAA Division II.
The only goal of Saturday’s match came at the 103:02 mark when the Bears’ Kevin Nadeau — a former Freedom High star — knocked the ball into the back right side of the net on an assist from Ismael Noumansana.
Limestone (1-1-1) outshot the Bears 12-9.
The Bears’ Zach King had four saves and Thomas Osborne made two for Limestone.
