COACHES, PLEASE REPORT RESULTS
HobbsDailyReport.com encourages head coaches or their representatives to report live scores as soon as possible after matches are completed. In volleyball, e-mail each of the match scores and stat leaders with first and last names and any highlights. In cross country, send top 10 finishers with first and last name and which school they run for and final team scores. We’ll publish a roundup each night with items we receive, indicating who provided the information, and we’d be glad to publish any photos (with IDs) and credit the person who shot the photo. Regular reporting will enable us to provide nightly volleyball standings.

The South Fork 2A announced Monday it has revised the schedule for the rest of the varsity volleyball season and will determine its champion based on 11 matches.

Because of COVID, the conference planned a schedule limited to 14 matches – as required by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) – but not all league schools are projected to play 14 matches.

Based on current standings, Lake Norman Charter and North Lincoln will play 14 league matches, Bandys, Maiden and West Lincoln will get in 13, Lincolnton and Newton-Conover will play 12 and East Lincoln will finish 11.

Four conference schools – Maiden, Bandys, East Lincoln and Newton-Conover – have experienced quarantines during the season.

East Lincoln is currently not able to play again until Dec. 23 while Maiden, Bandys and Newton-Conover have cleared their quarantines.

The conference has to meet a Jan. 9 deadline of reporting final standings to the NCHSAA, which will then develop the state playoff brackets.

In determining a champion based on 11 matches, a press release from the South Fork 2A said the top five teams can drop one match played against one of the three bottom teams in the standings.

The conference indicated there will be one doubleheader (at Bandys on Dec. 29) and one tripleheader (at Maiden on Dec. 29) played as part of completing the regular season.

The South Fork 2A determined before the season started that it would not play a conference tournament.
