Deal is a left-hander who played at Bandys High and Presbyterian College.
Last appearance: Wednesday as a starter in an 8-3 home loss to Palm Beach (Fla.).
He pitched five innings, allowing five hits, four runs (all earned) with three walks and one strikeout and took the loss.
Deal threw strikes on 62 of his 93 pitches and faced 22 batters.
Current stats: 3-6, 2.43 ERA, 14 starts, 77 2/3 innings pitched, two hit batters, 20 walks, 64 strikeouts.

Jarrett is a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte who is back with the Keys after playing about a month at Class AA Bowie (Md.). His next game will be his 250th as a pro.

Saturday: Batted third and started in right field in a 7-2 home loss to Wilmington (N.C.), going 0-for-4.

Thursday: Batted third and started in right field in a 4-1 home victory over Wilmington (N.C.) going 1-for-4.
