Deal is a left-hander who played at Bandys High and Presbyterian College.
Last appearance: Thursday, Aug. 15 in a 14-4 home loss to Bradenton (Fla.), pitching 2 2/3 innings. He gave up eight hits, eight runs (five earned) with no walks and three strikeouts. Faced 20 batters, throwing strikes on 46 of his 71 pitches.
After the game, he was placed on the seven-day disabled list (effective Friday, Aug. 16) and he came off the DL on Saturday.

Jarrett is a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte who returned to the Keys in late May after playing about a month at Class AA Bowie (Md.).
