ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)
Zach Jarrett is a former Hickory High and Charlotte star for the Shorebirds (22-11), who won 9-5 at Lexington (Ky.) on Thursday night with Jarrett getting three hits to lift his batting average back above .300.
He started in right field and batted seventh in Delmarva’s order, going 3-for-5 with one run scored and driving in one run before a crowd of 5,399.
Jarrett’s average rose from .294 to .307. In 30 games, he has seven home runs and 16 RBIs, and he’s hitting .231 with no home runs and two RBIs over his last 10 games.
He is 12th in hitting among South Atlantic League (SAL) hitters and is tied for third in the league in home runs with seven (with Chad Spanberger of Asheville). Casey Golden of Asheville has eight home runs, and Seuly Matias of Lexington hit two home runs on Thursday night and now has 10 this season.

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)
Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch on Thursday night when Bowie beat Hartford 7-5 at Bowie to reach .500 at 16-16.
Harvey made his fifth start of the season on Wednesday as Bowie won 8-2 at Altoona (Pa.), picking up his first win of the season.
He went five innings, allowing five hits, two runs (both earned) with no walks and two strikeouts.
Harvey also hit one batter, facing 19 overall, and he threw strikes on 51 of his 81 pitches before a crowd of 7,577.
After five starts, Harvey is 1-1 with an ERA of 3.63. He has thrown 17 1/3 innings, allowed 17 hits, seven runs (all earned), hit two batters, walked five and struck out 12.
If he works after five days of rest, his next start would come against Harrisburg (Pa.) at Bowie on Monday night.
HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)
Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal is a relief pitcher for the Braves (19-13), who suffered a 15-1 loss at Augusta (Ga.) on Thursday night before 5,505.
Deal last pitched on Saturday night, going two innings – he came in for Jacob Belinda after he’d blown a save — and Deal faced eight batters. He struck out five of those, giving up no walks and no runs and hitting one batter while throwing strikes on 22 of his 35 pitches.
He has thrown 9 1/3 innings and in five games this season with an ERA of 1.93 with two walks and 12 strikeouts. In his last two outings, Deal has pitched four innings, allowing four hits, no runs, no walks and striking out 11.
