HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch on Saturday night when Hartford (Conn.) won 6-4 at Bowie before a crowd of 6,849.

Bowie is 17-17.

Harvey made his fifth start of the season last Wednesday as Bowie won 8-2 at Altoona (Pa.), picking up his first win of the season. He went five innings, allowing five hits, two runs (both earned) with no walks and two strikeouts.

Harvey also hit one batter, facing 19 overall, and he threw strikes on 51 of his 81 pitches before a crowd of 7,577.

After five starts, Harvey is 1-1 with an ERA of 3.63. He has thrown 17 1/3 innings, allowed 17 hits, seven runs (all earned), hit two batters, walked five and struck out 12.

If he works after five days of rest, his next start would come against Harrisburg (Pa.) at Bowie on Monday night.

ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

Zach Jarrett is a former Hickory High and Charlotte star playing for the Shorebirds (24-11), who won 8-7 at Columbia (S.C.) on Saturday night before a crowd of 4,252.

Jarrett started in left field and went 1-for-4 and scored two runs, boosting his batting average .303. He has seven home runs and has driven in 16 runs. He has played in 32 games and is hitting .250 with no home runs and two RBIs in his last 10 games.

His batting average ties him with Aaron Knapp of Greensboro for 12th among South Atlantic League (SAL) hitter, and he remains tied for third in the league in home runs with seven (with Chad Spanberger of Asheville). Casey Golden of Asheville has nine and Seuly Matias of Lexington has 11.

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal is a relief pitcher for the Braves (21-14), who did not pitch in their 4-3 loss at Hickory on Saturday night.

Deal’s last appearance was the previous Saturday night. He went two innings and faced eight batters, striking out five, giving up no walks and no runs and hitting one batter while throwing strikes on 22 of his 35 pitches.

He has thrown 9 1/3 innings and in five games this season with an ERA of 1.93 with two walks and 12 strikeouts. In his last two outings, Deal has pitched four innings, allowing four hits, no runs, no walks and striking out 11.
